movement: twenty-four mondrian dresses, thirty dancers and a hundred musicians in the Kurhaus!

This year we celebrate 100 years ‘De Stijl: Mondrian to Dutch Design’ and therefore we bring a spectacular salute to the painter Piet Mondrian and art movement De Stijl.

In collaboration with Festival Classique and the Residentie Orkest, Michael Barnaart from Bergen works on Movement, a special performance where music, fashion and the work of Piet Mondrian come together. With the Mondrian dress as a metaphor for Mondriaan and De Stijl, the performance takes you to the moment when Michael Barnaart van Bergen created the composition for the Mondrian dress, the dress came into production, became a success and eventually ended up in museums behind glass. In this unique performance, the Residentie Orkest, under the direction of conductor Nicholas Collon, plays works by Beethoven, Milhaud and Stravinsky, among others. In addition, The Dutch Junior Dance Division performs two choreographies of Thom Stuart. Movement is a visual spectacle like you never experienced before, performed in the beautiful Kurzaal.

Tickets are available at Festival Clasique.
