2023 is the 125th year of birth of M.C. Escher (1898-1972). Kunstmuseum Den Haag and Escher in Het Paleis own the largest Escher collection in the world and are celebrating this anniversary year with various exhibitions.<\/p>\n

Michael Barnaart designed this scarf in collaboration with these museums. Pied-de-poule (also known as houndstooth) is an ancient archetypal textile pattern. I distorted the design, as an ode to Escher’s revolutionary tessellations and optical illusions, making the design appear to move. Hence the name: ‘pied de mouvement’.<\/p>\n

This scarf is also available in rust with blue<\/a><\/p>\n
