Escher (1898-1972). Kunstmuseum Den Haag and Escher in Het Paleis own the largest Escher collection in the world and are celebrating this anniversary year with various exhibitions. Fashion designer Michael Barnaart has designed accessories in collaboration with these museums.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pied-de-poule (also known as houndstooth) is an ancient archetypal textile pattern. For the scarf design, Michael distorted the design, as an ode to Escher&#8217;s revolutionary tessellations and optical illusions, making the design appear to move. The scarf is available in two color combinations: black and white and midnight blue with rust. The price of the scarf is \u20ac99.<\/p>\n<p>The Butterflies brooch is a nod to the 1950 work &#8216;Vlinders&#8217; by M.C. Escher. Michael has translated that into geometric butterflies. The golden butterfly is central and around it, butterflies try to free themselves from the tessellation, creating a dynamic image. Each brooch has a unique number and comes in a gift box.
