Bee brooch (numbered)

Description

The Abeille brooch an ode to France and its history. In ancient times, bees were often associated with the French monarchy. Napoleon also used it as a symbol to emphasise his position as emperor. Moreover, Napoleon saw bees as the epitome of hard work and unity: each bee has a specific task and works together with other bees for the good of the whole colony. You can still find the bee as a historical and symbolic element on French national decorations, in architecture and in art related to French history.
