“All I’ve done is try to make people a little happier, be it with a poster at the station, a book cover or a Miffy book used to be.” – Dick Bruna.
International writer and illustrator Bruce Ingman co-wrote this book with Ramona Reihill, which covers all aspects of Dick Bruna’s life and work. Using unique material from Bruna’s private archive, it sheds new light on a life devoted to art, from his acclaimed poster and book cover designs to his beloved creation Miffy. What is it that makes his work so powerful and loved? The authors of this book summarize it as follows: “And with that we get to the heart of the matter: Matisse’s gong, Cassandre’s punch and Bruna’s humanity.”
Award-winning writer and illustrator Bruce Ingman takes an international look at the life and work of Dick Bruna. Ingman is also head of the Children’s Book Illustration master’s degree at Goldsmiths, University of London. Ramona Reihill has worked for many years as a children’s book editor, including at the English publisher of the Miffy books.
